Tofu addresses the common problem of people not liking reading text on the screen. Why is this? There are two main reasons for this: visual instability and line width. Text is often very wide on the screen, making it difficult to read from one end to the other. Newspapers have narrow columns because it makes them easier to read.
Why not make a window smaller and scroll down as needed? There are often many lines in a text and they all look the same. If they move beyond your eyes vertically, it can be difficult to keep track. You can easily get lost because the text isn't stable.
Tofu arranges text in columns. Each column is as high as your window. Lines are neat and narrow so they don't move around vertically. Plus, your text is now in easy to understand chunks. You can scroll horizontally from column to column, feeling more in control.
Tofu also has other useful features that make it easier to read. You can jump to any part of your text by simply typing letters near it (without having to choose any command first). You can also access the "View In Columns" feature to grab text from a Web site. It allows you to use your voice to navigate text so you can actually sit back and read.
