Growly backup can help you protect your data from being lost or stolen by accident. While it doesn't replace automatic backups such as Time Machine or storing files on cloud storage, it can augment them by giving you an easy way of controlling what gets backed-up, to where and when.
You need to follow these steps in order to use Backup
- Decide what you want back up. You can choose to back up your entire Home folder, your Documents folder, and any other folder or set.
- You can specify what you don't want backups of. You may have 100GB worth of photos, movies, and songs that you don't need backups of. You may also have backups of files that you keep elsewhere or that can be easily recreated. It is not necessary to copy stuff that isn’t important.
- You must choose a backup device. You must put aside the entire device, including a thumb drive or an external hard drive. Backup will not allow you to have any other items on the partition or drive.
- Run Backup and click on the Backup button. Growly Backup ensures that the data on your drive and the backup drive match.
